James Gulley comes to us by way of Earlham, IA. He was a PE teacher and coach at Southeast Polk Middle School for 14 years where he coached Football, Baseball, and Track And Field. He is currently teaching in Earlham as a K-5 PE/Health teacher and coaches Football and Track and Field. Coach Gulley has been with Driving 101 for 4 years and enjoys teaching his students both the written and unwritten rules of driving. His wife is an Instructional Coach, also with Earlham Community School District, and has two boys, Porter, and Maddox who love learning to drive from their car seats ("Two hands on the wheel, Dad!").
Ryan Webb - I am a certified Driver’s Education instructor dedicated to helping new drivers develop the skills, confidence, and responsibility needed to be safe on today’s roads. With experience working with adolescent learners, I focus on building strong foundations in defensive driving, risk awareness, and sound decision making behind the wheel.
Joel Fox joined Ankeny Schools in 2014, teaching math and computer science at Ankeny High School, before helping launch the Ankeny Schools Orbis program in 2018, where he works as a project mentor and internship coordinator. In addition to teaching, Joel coached track and field for 20 years and football for 15. When not at work, he spends time coaching his kids' sports, running, and enjoying the outdoors. Before coming to Ankeny, Joel taught and coached for ten years in Orlando, FL.
Mark Kelly - I have worked professionally in farm and agribusiness insurance for the past 20 years.
In addition, I have been a driver’s education instructor since 2009, focused on building confident, safe, and respectful drivers. My family and I have lived in Ankeny since 2006, and I have had the opportunity to teach three of my five children to drive so far.
My name is Genevieve Stember and I’m Driving 101 Ankeny’s certified Daytime Drive Instructor. I’ve been teaching Drivers Ed for 6 years and l love my job! My goal when teaching drivers ed is to pass on my love of driving in a positive environment that helps my students walk away as more confident and independent drivers! I believe in a patient and positive learning environment and I emphasize really teaching the rules of the road so we know WHY we do what we do when driving!
Working for Driving 101 Ankeny has allowed me to offer alternative driving hours for students that may have a more flexible schedule. Why make everyone jockey for the same time slots?! If you are interested in daytime driving hours for your students (between 9am and 3pm Monday-Friday), please reach out so we can get you on the schedule!
When I’m not teaching drivers Ed, you can find me dabbling in floral work, spending time with my husband, and trying to keep tabs on my 3 nearly adult children! I love a good cup of coffee, bright sunny days (as long as I have my sunglasses), and seeing my students grow in their confidence and independence!
